The Data Spaces Discovery Day took place in Naples

On October 16th and 17th, we met several active, like-minded, and highly motivated data-sharing enthusiasts and creators in Naples at the Data Spaces Discovery Day.

In collaboration with Meditech - Competence Center, the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) orchestrated a meticulously organised event where familiar faces and new connections came together.

With approximately 150 participants, in this two-day event, we delved into the value of data spaces, their technological aspects, and the already available implementations in Manufacturing, Smart City, Agri-Food, and Energy domains. The attendees, predominantly comprising local organisations, most of which were SMEs and public authorities, demonstrated a keen interest in this emerging technology and its associated standards. Grand plans and high expectations were openly shared, setting the tone for a promising future.

The Data Spaces Discovery Day was brimming with significant keynotes, innovative use cases, active idea exchanges, insightful panels, and genuine celebrations.

We were delighted to showcase our achievements in Circular TwAIn to this vibrant community of experts, thanks to the contributions of our Project Coordinator, Angelo Marguglio from ENGINEERING, and our Technical Coordinator, Sergio Gusmeroli from POLIMI. During our presentation, we highlighted the main challenges of delivering new business value through utilising Circular Data Spaces bolstered by adopting Open Source technologies.

The Circular TwAIn's approach to data sharing was exemplified through its key enabler, the TRUE Connector. The TRUE Connector is an open-source International Data Spaces (IDS) Connector that facilitates data-driven ecosystems while safeguarding data sovereignty. It complies with the latest IDS specifications (i.e., IDS Info Model 4) and can be easily tailored to various scenarios in various industrial domains. Currently, it is in the final stages of obtaining IDS Certification at the component level. It is set to be among the first six certified connectors listed in the upcoming Data Connection Report release.

Furthermore, the event witnessed two significant announcements:

  1. Meditech has been designated as Italy's first IDS competence centre. Their guidance promises to pave the way for the advancement of IDS concepts and support data-sharing enthusiasts.

  2. The official launch of the IDSA Ambassador Program, which aims to assemble a group of trailblazers committed to championing the IDS standard and promoting its global adoption. Angelo and Sergio were included among the nominated ambassadors, reaffirming the significant contribution of Circular TwAIn to this ecosystem.

As we progress, let's continue pushing the boundaries and expanding our horizons within data spaces, especially by integrating them with Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twins.
